I am starting this post to inform you the public about what to do when involved in a crash. Most of us don't think about what we must do after the crash has occurred, much less what to do during or immediately after the crash. With this blog I intend to give you tips from my perspective. (The crash investigator) Some of you already know this but I will start with the very beginning. There are few items that you should have in your vehicle;
- Driver License
- Insurance card
These two items make it so much easier for the investigator. Make sure you always keep the insurance card where you know its safe. This will help in locating it and the Officer will not issue a citation for no insurance. After the vehicle has rolled several times sometimes it is impossible to find. I recommend a closed compartment in the vehicle.
I like this so far. Keep it up. I know we will be amazed at the technology that goes into the investigation. Not only is it a science but an art to being able to reconstruct an accident. There has to be so much to it!
ReplyDeleteHow long is the average accident investigation (with no fatalities or major injuries, hopefully) and how many troopers are assigned to take care of the scene?
ReplyDeleteWow! Your site looks great! I hope the one my partner and I create is as good as yours...I'll try.
ReplyDeleteThanks Josie for your wonderful comments. I am sure you will do fine. I can't wait to see your blogg.
ReplyDeleteI will answer those questions posted by asbt-prof(MW) tomorrow thanks for the questions and keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteSince they are relatively easy questions to answer I will not write an entire blog on it just make a comment. As to how long it takes all depends on the location, the damage and amount of vehicles involved. Every crash regardless of the severity must be investigated fully. The investigator is taught that the investigation is not complete until all questions are answered. On one vehicle roll overs which is very common in west Texas the investigation takes about an hour once we arrive. However, the time it takes us to arrive depends on the location. A Trooper in Alpine would take up to two hours to arrive to work a crash in northeast Terrell county. Usually there is one Trooper and a deputy and some times TXDOT to help with traffic control. I hope that answers your questions. New posts are coming soon.
ReplyDeleteThis is alot of great information to know if you were in an accident. What a great idea!!
ReplyDeleteGood and important information to know, thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your concern about how we drive and how we can become more educated on this subject. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteHey Carlos, How did you put those videos there? I would like to put some videos on my blog too. Wouldn't mind some little advice.
ReplyDeleteJosie it is relatively easy.
ReplyDeleteFirst go to customize it should be on the top right hand corner of your blog.
Then go to the add a gadget and choose video strip.
Then either upload from your computer or type in a phrase and you tube will look it up for you.
Don't forget to save your changes.
This is a great blog, definitely a service to those who read it. And thanks for helping Josie on how to add the gadgets.
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are frightening! Let that never happen to anyone, much less one of our loved ones!
ReplyDeleteWe all hope and pray that it wont happen to us. The truth is you never know who or when it will happen to one of our loved ones. The only thing we can do is prepare and follow the driving laws that are in place for our own safety. Drive safe and be a defensive driver.
