Importance of wearing a seat a seat belt

We are all adults and some people feel the government should not be telling us what to do when it comes to wearing a seat belt. If you are one of those people then you should continue to read or just watch some of the videos I have added at the bottom of my blog. Yes it's true seat belts can not save your life in every crash, but statistics show that your chances of walking away from a crash are much greater.

The laws of physics explain why it is so important for you to wear your seat belt. When you are traveling 70 mph on the highway your car and everything inside it including yourself are traveling 70 mph. When the car comes to an abrupt stop you do not. if you are wearing a seat-belt it holds in place, so you don't fly all over the interior of the car. If the crash is bad enough you could be thrown completely out of your vehicle. Partial ejections are sometimes worse. Your head could be crushed by your rolling car if it comes partially ejected. I know its gruesome, but the truth must be told. Not everyone gets to see thr trajedy after a massive car crash. The reason sometimes the seat belts do not save you is not because it did not hold you in place, but the energy of the crash was so great that your organs inside your body (also traveling 70 mph) were not made to take such an impact against your rib cage.

Watch a few videos and you will see that even a crash at 30 mph can cause great damage to a human body structure. Buckle up not because it is the law, but because you want to live to see another day.

Crash Information

A crash report is a basic form that is used by peace officers in Texas. The reports are kept by the Texas Department of Transportation. They file and review every crash report in Texas. If, they find a mistake they send it back to the reporting agency. Most of the information is gathered at the scene of the crash. This however will not answer all the answers and it is up to the investigating officer to obtain all information in order to answer any question that might arise in the future.

To obtain a copy you can go to your local DPS office and pay for one using a check or money order. I recommend for people involved have there insurance carrier to obtain it.

I am starting this post to inform you the public about what to do when involved in a crash. Most of us don't think about what we must do after the crash has occurred, much less what to do during or immediately after the crash. With this blog I intend to give you tips from my perspective. (The crash investigator) Some of you already know this but I will start with the very beginning. There are few items that you should have in your vehicle;

1. Driver License
2. Insurance card

These two items make it so much easier for the investigator. Make sure you always keep the insurance card where you know its safe. This will help in locating it and the Officer will not issue a citation for no insurance. After the vehicle has rolled several times sometimes it is impossible to find. I recommend a closed compartment in the vehicle.

I will try to keep my post short, but I will continue to update at least once a day until I cover what I think you should know. Feel free to ask questions and I will try to answer them as quickly as I can. I can go in depth as to how speeds are calculated or keep it simple you tell me what you want this blog to be.
